In our next worship series, we are preparing for Christ’s birth by Unwrapping the Names of Jesus! Each week, we will unwrap a new name that reveals an aspect of Jesus’ identity and character, preparing us for the joy of his incarnation. Tis the season to be overwhelmed with the demands of Christmas, to be manipulated by relatives with unreasonable expectations, and to be lonely in a world that is marketing new gadgets to substitute our needs for fulfillment. While the world’s “Seasonal Greetings” may offer very little, let us unwrap the gift that gives us remarkable hope, joy, peace and love. This priceless gift is from Heaven. It is called Immanuel. It means “God is with us”. When we acknowledge the awesomeness of God’s presence, the circumstances may be the same but they will not consume us. The life of God who is with us outshines the darkness that surrounds us. Christmas without Christ is just a ‘mas’ or mess. But, with Christ it is the most wonderful time of the year.

Join us this Sunday, the day after Christmas, as we continue our sermon series by unwrapping Jesus as the Alpha and Omega. Jesus is the first and the last; the beginning and the end. He is the gift that gave us life, and the gift that completes our lives. Without Jesus, our author and Creator, would not be here. Without Jesus, the finisher of our faith, we would not have access to life. Jesus not only offers us a new beginning, but he brings all things to completion, and through him, God is with us forever.
