Conviction & Compassion
A series on 1 Corinthians
In a pressurized, polarized society, the Church is called to be part of the solution through conviction and compassion. We are not defined by the boxes this world creates, nor are we called to place one another into categories. The divisions in our country and in our churches are continuing to widen, which is something the enemy takes great delight in, but regardless of what conflicts this world seeks to perpetuate, we are called to hold fast to Jesus Christ, to worship in Spirit and in Truth, and to show deep care for the people around us. This means doing more listening than talking, more understanding than being understood, and drawing closer to one another in love. Let us not be defined by our opinions, but by the unifying love our God has lavished upon us all.
First Things First
In our polarized and pressurized society, we are called to be part of the solution as peacemakers in God’s Kingdom. With Christ as our foundation, it is possible for us to be people of both conviction and compassion. Too often our opinions divide us and cause us to lose sight of our mission. Let’s put first things first: love for God and love for neighbor. When we lean into the convictions of Jesus Christ, it will lead us into Christian unity and Christ-like compassion for our neighbors.

First Importance: Resurrection
Faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love. BUT, without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, these things do not exist. As Apostle Paul advised, beware of false doctrines that deny the resurrection, stand firm in the central truth, and acknowledge that our servanthood to God is not in vain.

Thanksgiving Blessings: Test the Heart
Tithes and offerings are not merely the lifeblood that assures the ministries of the church, it demonstrates the testing of the heart. God already owns the universe and all the contents. The one thing He does not own unless we give it to Him, is the thanksgiving blessing. This is why God will test the heart. He desires for us to recognize and to demonstrate our gratitude by giving Him the first fruit of our labor, our tithing, our first 10%. Learn to be a thanksgiving blessing.

Intentional Thanksgiving Blessings
We do not wait until the day before Christmas to do our window shopping, or wait until we are emotionally excited about standing in long lines at the department stores or wait until we are thrilled about purchasing over-inflated items to do our shopping. NO! We start early. Some of us want to get a good deal, but most of all, we want to get the perfect gifts to those whom we dearly love. This is also true with God. When giving our thanksgiving blessing to God, we are intentional. We do not procrastinate. We do not seek advice from our emotions or wait until our circumstances are more favorable. It is our loving priority to give Him the perfect gift not just for Christmas but for every day of our lives.
