08.14.22 | Devoted
So many things in this world are fighting for our devotion, whether it be a sports team, a hobby, a job, or our loved ones. That is because we are designed to be devoted, but what we choose to devote ourselves to makes all the difference. This week we will look at what the early Church was devoted to, such as fellowship, worship, and outreach, and see how we can “Become the Church” that Jesus planted some two thousand years ago.

08.21.22 | A Church for the Birds
The world is starving to death for Jesus Christ and we in the Church have him! That’s the bottom line! We are in the world as the Church above all else to share Jesus Christ with a needy world. Everything we do (every group, every trip, and every outreach) is for one single purpose… so we can share the love and presence of Jesus Christ! Christ is with us! That is, and always will be, what is right with the Church. That is our one foundation! That is our ROCK!

08.28.22 | The Unstoppable Gospel
The church is not something that is past tense. The church is moving forward with the unstoppable Gospel of Jesus Christ. The God who empowered the apostles in the Book of Acts is the same God who empowers us. Let us not merely acknowledge this or assume that it is someone else’s responsibility, rather, let each of us learn ways at how we can be a part of God’s unstoppable mission. He wants everyone to know and experience His love and truth.

09.04.22 | The Unstoppable Gospel
More than converting from water to wine, from an angry sea to calm waters, and from blindness to sight, Jesus changes the human heart from evil to good. This life-changing experience is more than changing one’s belief, one’s values, one’s perspective or one’s attitude, it’s a completely new life in every way. We become new creations in Christ! Let us celebrate this newness of life with worship, an invitation for renewal, and Holy Communion.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me, and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
At Aldersgate Church, we believe in the forgiveness of sins
– “We believe man is fallen from righteousness and, apart from the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, is destitute of holiness and inclined to evil. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. In his own strength, without divine grace, man cannot do good works pleasing and acceptable to God. We believe, however, man influenced and empowered by the Holy Spirit is responsible in freedom to exercise his will for good. (the Book of Discipline of the UMC)
– “We believe God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself. The offering Christ freely made on the cross is the perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, redeeming man from all sin, so that no other satisfaction is required.” (the Book of Discipline of the UMC)
– “We believe we are never accounted righteous before God through our works or merit, but that penitent sinners are justified or accounted righteous before God only by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.” (the Book of Discipline of the UMC)
– “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Ro 3:23)
– “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Ro 6:23)
– “But your iniquities have separated you from your God: and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)
– “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Ro 5:8)
– “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in you heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Ro 10:9)
– “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Ro 10:13)
– “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Eph 2:8-92)
– “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor 5:21)
Let us rejoice! We are righteous with God not because of anything we have done but because of the forgiveness of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
