An Important Update from Conference

On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Aldersgate Church has been granted disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church (UMC) by the Susquehanna Annual Conference. Even though we will be continuing to venture through transitions over the next several weeks, we remain committed to our mission to Know-Live-Share Jesus, making disciples and serving others.

Informational Meetings
To keep everyone informed and involved in our ongoing ministry, we will be hosting informational meetings. These meetings will be an opportunity to ask questions, provide input, and discuss how we can continue to fulfill our mission. We believe that through our commitment to making disciples and serving others, we can make a positive impact in our community and beyond.

All four sessions will cover the same information and will be held in The Gathering Place at the following times:

– Saturday, May 20th at 10:00 AM
– Sunday, May 21st during Sunday School (available to all classes)
– Monday, May 22nd at 6:30 PM
– Wednesday, May 24th at 6:30 PM

We encourage everyone to attend and participate in these meetings as we move forward in our ministry together.

Membership Status
Clarification to May 14th Bulletin
On Pentecost, Sunday May 28th, the Confirmation Class Participants, and people that have recently completed the membership class will be welcomed as members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church (UMC).

The current members of Aldersgate UMC remain members of the UMC until the Disaffiliation Settlement (date TBD). After Settlement, there will be multiple, easy and meaningful ceremonies for current members of Aldersgate UMC to join the new Aldersgate Church.

After Settlement, there will also be a path to membership for people that wish to join the new Aldersgate Church (those not currently members of Aldersgate UMC). This will include a brief set of classes, baptism (if not previously baptized) and a membership ceremony.
