A New Year is Upon Us
A new year is upon us and usually we are more reflective during this season of our future. We may be consumed with worry as we become another year older. As senior citizens, perhaps we think more about how we will manage our finances, our health, our homes, our independence, and our lives. It is winter and for many of us our focus is on the bleakness of daily life. I encourage you in this new year to seek out the scriptures to feel God’s reassurances that He will provide, and that He will purpose our future and be our HOPE.
“For you know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper and not harm you, plans for hope and a future.”
– Jeremiah 29:11
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
– Phillipians 4:6
“Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed. For I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
– Isaiah 41:10
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous . Do not be afraid. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:9
“Then Jesus said to His disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.”
– Luke 12:22
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable that they?”
– Matthew 6:26
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
– Romans 8:38 – 39
“Lord, when I think back on all the times You’ve provided for my needs, I feel bad that I don’t trust You more to do the same in my future. Why do I worry when You’ve been nothing but beyond faithful to me. Please forgive my anxious thoughts and help me to rest in complete surrender to Your way and Your power and Your plan for meeting my needs today and in the days ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
