Advent is a Time of Preparation. It is a Time When We Prepare Our Homes and Our Hearts for the Coming of Christ. We are surrounded by songs and traditions of this most blessed holiday – Christmas.
Reflecting on Advent, I am reminded that we are always to be in preparation for the coming of our Lord. Just as we prepare our homes for the arrival of friends and family, we are to prepare for the arrival of Him. Our hearts are to continually be in a state of a anticipation for Jesus’ arrival, not only during the Advent season, but each and every day.
“Faith is salted and peppered through everything at Christmas. And I love at least one night by the Christmas tree to sit and feel the quiet holiness of that time that’s set apart to celebrate lovely friendships and God’s gift of the Christ child.” – Amy Grant
“The giving of gifts is not something man invented. God started the giving spree when He gave a gift beyond words, the unspeakable gift of His Son.” – Robert Flatt
“My idea of Christmas whether old-fashioned or modern is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait until Christmas?” – Bob Hope
“Our hearts grow through childhood memories and love of kindred and we are better throughout the year for having in spirit, become a child again at Christmas.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder
“For it is good to be children sometimes and never better than at Christmas when the mighty founder was a child himself.” – Charles Dickens
“Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world.” – C.S. Lewis
“Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” – Dale Evans
May you experience the true peace and joy of Advent and the coming of Christ every day!
