Good grief! Can you believe we are halfway through 2019? Has the planning for Advent and Christmas begun? We are all way too busy and time flies away from us way before we expect it.
July is a month of transition for Aldersgate Church. We welcome our new pastor, Rev. Dale Parker, and his wife Tami to our family of faith! It’s also the month when worship service times are changing and construction/ renovations continue in the children’s wing downstairs. Guests continue to visit Aldersgate to see if this is a place where they can grow in faith and service to God and His people. New staff members are joining our ranks: welcome Vanessa Trauger as the Leader of our Contemporary Praise Team; Miranda Moland, our Youth and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator and Rachel Booz our Worship Assistant and Organ Substitute!
Much is changing and the excitement of something new happening in our midst permeates the air. Fortunately, what does not change is that God is still the Almighty God who loves us and calls us to love Him and one another in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
There are a handful of people celebrating very special birthdays in July and when we think of change, we often do not realize the actual age of some of our wonderful people who continue to serve the Lord! We all want to be like them when we grow up! In July:
- Bob Davis has a special birthday on the 12th
- Herb “Charlie” Douts will turn 94 on July 14th
- Mary Jane Rahe turns 90 on July 19th (Please bless her with a Card Shower.)
- Verna Mae Billmeyer turns 93 on the 21st
- Grace “Scoty” Weitkamp on the 25th
- Barbara Schriver turns 89 on the 30th
Addresses will be on the bulletin board or call me if you need an updated address. A July birthday listing for the rest of our congregation will also be posted on the bulletin board by the office.
We have been blessed by several members who have offered their time to volunteer in the church office and for that Sheila and I are most grateful!
Opportunities to serve in other capacities are always available, helping with set-up or meal preparation, clean-up, small maintenance projects within the church or church grounds, teaching/child care, visiting the elderly/homebound, etc. All of these are very rewarding in terms of connection with other people. So, if you are looking for something to do, or a way you can serve the Lord in a hands-on way, give me a call or email me. We can find a place for you! Aldersgate Church is a COMMUNITY of faith and we desire and need all of our members to be connecting with others.
Kristin Titzell, our Children’s Ministry Director, is still looking for people of all ages to assist with Vacation Bible School July 15th through the 19th from 8:30- 11:30AM. Please contact her if you are willing and able to assist in any capacity. YOU can make a difference!
