A Look Around the Church
Happy New Year, and not only a new year, but a new decade as well! Before we get into 2020, I must reflect on the blessings we saw for Aldersgate Church during the year 2019: so much excitement marked the year as we saw new life energizing the staff and congregation; the church building busy with activities such as Table Talk, the Christmas musical, the Helping Hand Food Runs in November and December; the opening of the renovated children’s ministry area; and many other celebrations such as the Special Blessing Class party. Most importantly, I see the smiles, the warm hugs, people working together to care for others, why you’d think this place is full of Christ-followers! Join me in giving thanks to God for all that is and all that will be in the coming year!
Sadly, a much-loved member, Ackie Atkinson passed to life eternal on December 1st, just a day shy of his 85th birthday. This man took so much joy in living and learning! And I doubt that Ackie ever met someone whom he did not, in short order, consider a friend. He was a walking lesson to us all to seize the joy all around us each and every day, making friends and showing God’s love to all!
Those celebrating special birthdays in January are Charles Vernon on the 1st; Pat Davis on January 2nd; Louis Cookson on the 4th; Doris Slenker on the 6th; Phyllis Bartels on the 8th; Dean Kreeger and Nancy Lewis on the 12th; Maynard Church on the 26th. Help them celebrate! A complete listing of January birthdays is available on the bulletin board across from the mailboxes.
Since it’s a new year, I’ll be looking to update our member and guest records. Please help me with this task by informing me of changes to telephone numbers, emails, physical addresses and other changes in your families. If you have children, now grown and out of the house, updated addresses, etc, for them will also be appreciated. Lastly, if you
are new to this church, and wish to have a mailbox, just email me with your request. A supply of yellow envelopes for your use in giving to the 2020 Vision Campaign has been received in the office. Please let me know if you’d like some placed in your mailbox.
