This is the Year of Our Lord
Before becoming the pastor of Aldersgate Church, God clearly revealed to me two Scripture passages to describe His response to those people who have been praying for a new season: Isaiah 40 and II Corinthians 6:2. After endless hours of being in the ‘Holy of Holies’, seeking God’s truth, and being guided by the Holy Spirit, I am to officially announce that the year 2020 is the Year of The Lord. Thisis the year that God is finding favor upon the people and ministry of Aldersgate.
This is not a Growing Effective Church strategy, or a New Year Resolution or something that I would dare to conjure up. Truth be known, I am extremely humbled before God for two reasons. His sovereignty is beyond my endurance; plus, if God were not in this, I would be the biggest fool. Regardless, like Noah who built an ark before it rained, I am called to build the Kingdom of God by announcing to Aldersgate that this is the Year of Jubilee. Debts will be forgiven!
Families will return to the Christian values of their ancestors. Liberation will be given to the captives. Light will be given to those in darkness. Healing will be given to those who hurt. The Year of The Lord’s favor, ushered in by Christ Jesus, is a promise to be enjoyed by all sinners.
All who come to Aldersgate are going to have an amazing Aldersgate experience. They are going to experience a deep cleansing of the soul, a complete renewal of strength, peace that surpasses understanding, and joy that will overflow. People will know the Holy Spirit, be filled with the Holy Spirit, be guided by the Holy Spirit and bear the fruit & gifts of the Holy Spirit. This ‘Year of The Lord’ experience will be no less than what John Wesley’s (the founder of United Methodist) encountered 281 years ago.
Now is the acceptable time for spiritual awakening, renewal, and empowerment.
“I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.”
