Congregational Care Ministry

Director of Congregational Health Ministry: Tara DeStefano

Purpose:

To integrate faith and health to support Aldersgate’s Mission of “Making Disciples That Make a Difference.”

Vision:

To honor God within the church community through the integration of faith and health.

Mission:

The Aldersgate Parish Nurse Ministry is an extension of the Pastoral Care Ministry. Focusing on caring for one another within the distinct context of a faith tradition. This ministry will embody gratitude, hospitality, and a call to faithfulness toward God and neighbor.  The Parish Nurse, through integration of spirituality and health, shall bear witness to God’s care for Creation and God’s desire to heal a broken world.

A Caring Presence

who is part of the Pastoral and Congregational Care Ministries. Following up on hospital stays, conducting visitations of the homebound and providing physical, emotional and spiritual support through listening and routine follow-up.

A Health Counselor

who listens, cares, encourages, directs, and visits individuals who are facing particular health care concerns and situations.

A Health Educator

who teaches and utilizes visual aids through posters, pamphlets, articles, as well as writes a monthly column in “Good Tidings,” for the church newsletter with noteworthy information pertinent to health and well being for all ages within our church family.

A Referral Agent

who connects individuals with the appropriate and/or necessary community services related to health and wellness matters.
