From October through December, parents participate in the classroom. Beginning in January, parents enjoy a variety of speakers in an adjacent room for a segment of the time and then join the children for activities at the end of class. (This allows children to make a smoother, more positive transition to the school environment.)

Parent participation day is on Tuesday; parents enjoy speakers and experts in child health / education and then join the children for classroom activities. On Thursdays, parents have the option to drop off or volunteer to help in class. Babysitting is available for siblings during all parent classes. Call for details. 4 & 5 Year Olds(five year olds who are not enrolled in Kindergarten)
Parent participation day is Tuesday. Parents enjoy a wide variety of speakers and demonstrations from experts in child health and education. After the parents’ program, we share activities with CURRICULUM:Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate for each age group. We believe that “play” is a child’s work, and that young children learn by doing rather than observing. Our goal is to develop the whole child. We encourage each child to develop at his/her own pace, building healthy self-esteem and good social skills. Note: parents are always welcome and encouraged to help in the classroom. We believe your involvement is vital to helping your child become a secure, independent, well-rounded individual. *Fees Listed are for 2010-2011. Aldersgate Parent/Child Preschool National Association For the Education of Young Children Member Parenting SessionsCOFFEE?? DONUTS?? ORANGE JUICE?? I'LL BRING THE REFRESHMENTS NEXT WEEK...does this sound like the activities of a preschool class?? Actually, this is the buzz surrounding the parenting sessions on Tuesdays. Each week our parents gather for a support session where a variety of topics are discussed. Our program is not only for the children but for the entire family. While the preschoolers listen to the theme of the month during circle time and work on their creative projects, our parents continue to learn during their special classes. We are very fortunate that numerous community-minded individuals willingly share their knowledge and expertise with our families. Topics we have covered include: literacy, speech therapy, how to control the "mad" inside us, math--it's all around us, dental hygiene, kitchen food safety, and an open "mike" with a physician. Some sessions are just for fun, like yoga and accompanying preschoolers on all field trips--always a nice experience!! New this year is a program set to music to "get organized"--our parents are very excited about this one. We also had a Peace Corps volunteer share her experiences with our moms--it was so interesting--so much more we wanted to know—so little time. Our kindergarten readiness segment, enhanced with a school counselor, is a must for those parents who plan to send their children onto the next level of learning soon. Parenting sessions are a place to learn, to share and to bond. Our moms, dads, aunts and grandparents appreciate the opportunities to express their ideas, concerns and individual parenting experiences in a caring environment. Indeed, participation in Aldersgate Preschool is a commitment for each family, but truly worthwhile!!! |
