We are blessed as a congregation to have so many spirit filled youth in our membership. We thank our Youth Leaders and the congregation for the support they provide for these young Christian servants. This year we were very encouraged with amount of applicants we had apply for this Scholarship and thank each of them for taking the time to apply.
It is a pleasure for the Aldersgate Endowment Fund Committee to announce this year’s recipients of the Barbara A. Gable Scholarship are:
- Vanessa Trauger
- Allison Hoffman
- Gabe Heistand
- Peyton Stuart
Barbara Gable was actively involved with our church before her death in 1998. Barbara volunteered in Sunday school and with the youth fellowship from the time she was 20 years old. Devoted to our youth, she demonstrated her strong faith in her daily walk. Her impact on the lives she touched was amazing and therefore; her husband, Dale Gable, established the Scholarship in her memory. It is awarded yearly to AUMC graduates pursuing post-secondary studies who exemplify strong faith, who have participated in church youth activities, and who have served in the ministries and missions of AUMC.
All four of our recipients are active members of our church. Vanessa has been very involved throughout the years in various music ministries and will be assuming the leadership role in our Contemporary Worship Team. She has participated in volunteer positions, mission work, and ministry during her studies at Westminster Choir College. Allison has also been actively involved in the youth programs and various ministries of AUMC. She will be attending Eastern University in the fall. Peyton Stuart attends the University of Pittsburgh and has been very active in mission work both here at AUMC and the community throughout his youth. Gabe Heistand joined Aldersgate in 2017. Since then, he has served as a good role model in many capacities within our church, at Dallastown Area High School, and in our community. He is active in the youth group and plans to attend Penn State.
Please take the opportunity to congratulate these outstanding young members of our congregation. Offer them your prayers, support, and encouragement as they continue their journeys. Contributions can be made to the Aldersgate Endowment Fund or more specifically to the Barbara Gable Scholarship Fund in the form of gifts of money or assets in honor of, or in memory of friends, family, or other special people in our lives. For additional information on how you can participate in the Aldersgate Endowment Fund or the Barbara Gable Scholarship, please see Ed Yohn, Endowment Committee Chair.
