With a Grateful Heart!
As we start focusing on our preparations for the Advent season, welcoming the birth of our Lord and Savior, I would like to reflect on how grateful we can be for our Missions Team and the donations we receive from you, the congregation, to support our Mission Projects!
Jackson School is still closed to volunteers coming into the building, however, we can still support the school, administration and students by our prayers and our “outside” involvement.
In October, the Assistant Principal, Dr. Jones, contacted me regarding a Fall Fest they were holding for the students at the school asking us for some financial assistance in purchasing some equipment. The request came for an industrial grade popcorn machine, ice shaving machine, and a cotton candy machine.
I thought the Missions Team would purchase one of the items, but the result was an unanimous vote for all three items to be purchased. This is a long lasting gift to the school that will be used for many events.
What excitement from the students as most have not had access to such a treat! I am so extremely grateful to the congregation and the Missions Team for the strong support you give for Jackson School. It may seem as if we aren’t doing anything as we wait to have access to the building, but there is so much behind the scenes that is being done. December 1st we will be making our fruit baskets again for all of the staff at the school, delivering them the same day. Also, during the month of December and January, we will be collecting coats of all sizes, from 5 through Adult medium for the students. This winter is to be colder than last, so hopefully we will be able to provide some warm jackets for the children when they walk to school.
“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” – 1 John 3:17.
Many blessings to you all this Christmas Season. My prayer is that each one of you will have time during the weeks of Advent to reflect and pray over the meaning of the coming of our Lord and how this amazing event has impacted your life.
Merry Christmas!
